Sara Bright is a Los Angeles based artist whose practice encompasses functional design, painting, ceramic sculpture, and spiritual practice.  Sara is a lifelong student of the Tao and a teacher of Taiji and Qigong.  These practices and the heritage of Eastern spiritual practices, such as Zen, directly inform her process as a visual artist.  Sara practices Japanese and Chinese calligraphy, which she began cultivating as a teenager studying abroad in China, and she is endlessly interested in the power of the brushstroke to transmit energy.

Sara is currently working on a series of both large- and small-scale ceramic fountains.  Sara has shown widely, and her work has been reviewed or featured in numerous publications including Artforum, Art Ltd and Dwell Magazine.  She has been an artist-in-residence at Skowhegan Center for Painting and Sculpture, Anderson Ranch and Watershed Center for Ceramics. Sara earned her BA in Studio Art from Wesleyan University and her MFA from UC Berkeley.
